B
ipolar disorder and major depression affect millions
of Americans. Different from the normal ups and downs that everyone
goes through, the symptoms of bipolar disorder and major depression are
severe and require constant treatment through therapists,
psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. Support groups
provide an additional and vital part of the path to recovery, offering
members the opportunity to share and grow from each other in a safe,
confidential and welcoming environment.
Recognizing that adolescents diagnosed with bipolar disorder or major depression have special needs, the Northern Virginia DBSA Chapter is now offering a support group specifically for teens (ages 13-19).
The Teen Depression and Bipolar Support Group is DBSA-Northern Virginia's newest group.
Teen
Depression and Bipolar Support Group: The group meets
every Thursday at 7:30PM in the Senior
High Room of the Fairfax Presbyterian Church, which is located at 10723
Main Street, Fairfax, VA 22030. Anyone with
depression or bipolar disorder is welcome.
"While parents cannot attend
the teens meeting, they are encouraged to meet in the Junior High Room
to share their experiences with each other."
